Aaron, his wife Jessica, and their two kids Emilee and Case make up the Custer part of the Custer Midkiff Show Goat team. They live north of Coahoma, Tx. Aaron is the Ag Teacher at Coahoma ISD and when he’s not hauling kids all over Texas, he’s in the goat barn.
The family has been raising goats for over 50 years, mostly Spanish, used for family gathering bar-b-que’s and selling to the West Texas locals for more of the same. It was in 2000 that Aaron decided to try out the Boer breed. We attended a few sales and eventually purchased our first boer billy. Aaron also went and purchased some half blood and percentage females. We were concentrating on trying to make some really nice females that we could use to break into the show goat industry. We started slow and really focused on producing structurally sound, extended, and attractive females. As the goat industry has changed and is now focusing more and more on carcass value, we have added power to our herd and have become increasingly competitive on the Texas show circuit through the years. We feel very fortunate that we have built some great relationships with goat breeders, feeders, and have made some lifelong friends through this business venture. Custer – Midkiff Show Goats would love to have the opportunity to help serve your needs in the goat industry. Give us a call!
